Would you please post any updates on Club O?

I think our position is the same as many others. We long for any information on Club O. It was our home away from home for so many years.

Are you on the island and if so could you ask Cedric?

Do you know an owner who might update?

It might be a great ongoing thread and bring some current activity to this forum.

We are planning on May and we will do what we can.

carib cheers,

SXM requires insurance (at a cost of $30 each) covers medical evac for COVID, up to $20,000, which might get a person to FL, definitely won't bring both my wife and I home to Michigan. We usually get an insurance bundle product that covers evac all the way home and trip insurance.

Thanks bluejacket. I finally found it on the site. This whole process is nerve-wracking, but we've got to get there next month. My wife is ready for Perch Lite happy hour like yesterday.
Not long ago I posted a full report about our trip over Xmas and New Years. Were you looking for a more recent report? If so that's totally cool but I doubt much has changed that much since then. Enjoy your trip, it will be great. Different than the past, but great!! Enjoy thumbsUp
No problem beachrunner. Be aware, also, that the CDC has instituted new return testing requirements. I thing the sxm tourist office post a list of testing location on both the french and dutch sides.
bluejacket,
To be clear is the evac Insurance required by SXM offered when you submit your health entry form?
Got my J&J vaccine yesterday.
Wheels down in 64 days!
See you at Perch Lite.
carib cheers,

Doctorj,

According to the EHAS website, purchasing the mandatory insurance is part of the EHAS application process. The insurance is for medical evac related to Covid only. We usually get a package from insuremytrip.com that covers everything.

Got our Moderna vaccine yesterday. Second dose in a month.
72 days for us!

It directs you to the Club O website but you have to dig a bit for the info. It's in the FAQ section: https://www.cluborient.com/rebuild/

The timeline forecasts rebuilding starts in Fall 21 if the revised permit that was submitted last month is approved. It sounds like the architects/engineers are working closely with the buiding code agency to ensure they've addressed all of the issues raised. I was losing hope... this is welcomed news. Fingers crossed!!!

Fingers crossed for sure. All hope was lost, now there is a glimmer. We miss Club O so much!
Thanks for posting this. thumbsUp
Have not been here on the forum for a while. Great information, here's hoping for the return of Club O.

We will be on the island from Mid May to Mid June. Look like we will see some of you at the Perch. Getting anxious!
thumbsUp
bluejacket,
Thanks for the response. I have read other posts that people have purchased from SXM.
Just wondering how that worked. See you on the beach!
Orientexpress
See you at Perch Lite!
Beach ball racing anyone?

Bluejacket
Sorry.
I should have read your response a little better.
Thanks

Has there been any rebuilding in the area just north of Pedro's where Cheryl and Andy's restaurant used to be? When we were there last, it was a blank slate.

Those new and improved "permanent" structures that caused such consternation in about 2015 were gone.

I know there are a few places now. Orange Fever, Sun Beach and more that I don't remember the name. Chez Leandra???

I'm looking forward to mussels at Orange Fever.

Thank you. Yes, Chez Leandra was one of the original restaurants. Are these rebuilt in the "new" construction, or built with the original wooden structures? I would imagine the new codes would be in effect for any new construction.

Last time i was there they were starting to rebuild to the new code, which is all concrete structures for the main building, ala the kitchens, but allowed wooden decks and roofs.

We have enjoyed Orange Fever and Chez Leandra in the past. Word on the street is Le String is open and getting rave reviews for their food which is more upscale than previous. We may be able to get back in May. Still working out the details, like waiting for our passport renewals to be returned.
